Jaouli Fineness Akofely
Rap artist Jaouli "Finess" Akofely grew up in the Stockholm suburb of Hässelby as the youngest of six siblings. It was a harsh upbringing in many ways, his older brothers took part in heavy crime, something that made police raids and the brothers' prison-sentences everyday life for young Jaouli. Despite the fact that those around him expected him to follow his brothers, Jaouli chose to break with the destructive patterns and take a different path in life. He came into contact with hip-hop music early on, as one of his older brothers ran one of the managements behind several of the artists related to the growing Swedish rap-genre in the late 90s. Today, Jaouli himself is a successful artist under the stage name Finess, and he is also working on a book about his upbringing, which starts with the brutal murder of one of his brothers.
