The rap artist Jaouli "Finess" Akofely grew up in the suburb Hässelby in Stockholm, he was the youngest of six siblings. It was a hard upbringing in many ways and his older brothers turned to serious criminality, which made police raids and the brothers' prison sentences everyday-life for young Jaouli. Although the environment expected him to follow the same path, Jaouli turned away from the destructive patterns. Jaouli has been in contact with Hiphop music since early in life. One of his big brothers ran a management which was behind several of the artists in the big wave of Swedish rap in the late 90's. Today, Jaouli himself is a successful artist under the artist name Finess, he is also working on a book about his upbringing, where he takes his starting point in the brutal murder of one of his brothers.
